Volunteer Application Form-TMCSF SUPPORT OUR WORK, LIKE & SHARE US, TEACH ART, DANCE, DRAMA OR MUSIC TO DEVELOP “TALENTS” WITHIN TEENAGE MOTHERS AND CHILD SUPPORT FOUNDATION.
Teach Art, Music, Dance or Drama at a local school that we partnership with or at our community centers or offices for vulnerable teenage mothers and their children. The Arts are an excellent means of communicating and can also be downright fun for the kids! You don’t need any qualifications, just lots of enthusiasm. Use Arts to address social issues and enable teenage mothers and their children to express their frustrations and confusions help them to understand and learn to cope with unwelcome situations.
Art, Dance, Music or Drama helps teach teenage mothers life skills, communication, and socializing skills. And it’s fun! If art, drama or music is your thing then consider sharing your creative talents on a volunteer project with us. This is a great opportunity to learn about music, drama, art, and dance in different cultures and languages and be inspired! You could get the class to make posters on the topics you are covering or decorate the classrooms in the school that we partner with. Educational murals covering the alphabet, numbers or even a world map! They will be keen to teach you their songs but also enjoy learning new songs that they sing in their language.
Modern music; add in a dance routine and you will be occupied for hours! On this project, volunteers will be based at our community areas of operations where they will work with teenage mothers and their children. You don’t need any specific qualifications or previous experience to get involved but a basic knowledge or interest in drama or dance is needed.
Artistic expression is a universal language and dance and drama are just two variations. Ugandans are very creative and this creativity can be channeled into projects like the Dance & Drama program. In the case of teenage mothers and their children, dance and/or drama can be used as a means of communicating their challenges as well as fostering their personal development. Volunteers work primarily with teenage mothers, younger girls, children on tasks such as:
- Assisting in developing artistic drama and dance pieces.
- Assisting in planning and organizing events.
- Fostering a supportive environment to facilitate growth and development in artistic expression.
- Preparing materials for group meetings
- Education programs
- primary health care program
- Providing structured guidance for performances.
- Supporting the organization in administrative duties.
As a Dance & Drama volunteer, it is important that you are enthusiastic, flexible, open to learning, and eager to work with teenage mothers and their children and young girl. Anyone who has good organizational skills and experience in managing group dynamics will be a great fit for this project. The skills and experiences that you will share will have a lifelong impact on the teenage mother and their children of the dance and drama group your support will be greatly appreciated.
The group will strengthen the relationships that already exist between the students. The Dance & Drama Project also provides an invaluable forum for the development of artistic expression – an interest of many teenage mothers and their children that is often underrated. Volunteers will work during school hours, Mondays to Fridays. Please note that this project is available throughout.
If you like to do extra work during the day it is possible also to spend some time on a Care project, where you can help teach money making skill at our centers.
